Description

History: A 3-acre historic site founded in 1906 by the Hurst family. It showcases the San Gabriel Valley’s rich agricultural history prior to widespread urbanization.

What to see: It preserves the original family home, period farming equipment, vintage tools, and stables. Today, it operates as a museum and community space for events and educational programs.

The Hurst Ranch Historical Center is a child-friendly museum that showcases early 20th century ranching in the San Gabriel Valley. Interested in hosting a party or wedding? Hurst Ranch is available for rental. For additional information on Hurst Ranch, go to the Hurst Ranch website.

Visitors to the center can learn about 100-year-old farming and irrigation techniques, and how they compare to materials and technologies used today.

The interactive museum features equipment and memorabilia from past ranching eras.

Children and adults alike can climb aboard antique cars and tractors, turn a corn-husker, crank a cider press or work a butter churn.

The museum structure, skillfully designed to provide a unique experience for all visitors, furnishes the City of West Covina with an exceptional, active and functional facility for community use.

Frequently Asked Question

What are the museum’s opening hours?
We’re open from 9 AM to 2 PM Monday thru Thursday.
Are guided tours available?
Yes, free guided tours.
Can schools or groups book in advance?
Absolutely, we encourage advance bookings for school groups or educational trips. The Hurst Ranch is non-profit therefore a $5 charge per student is necessary to cover expenses. It is also necessary to provide a certificate of insurance from the school. Our priority is a hands-on experience for students. To do this we would like to limit the number of students on the field trip to approximately 60 (+-) students.
